Stars, arcs, spiral galaxies, trees, nature, interconnectivity, oneness, path, seeking – these are the forms and concepts that inspire and influence my work. One can discern these themes mirrored in Persian art and culture, such as the geometric patterns in ancient mosques and palaces, and the exquisite colours and unique compositions in Persian Miniatures. In essence, my work is a form of visual storytelling that weaves together the tapestry of my life story. Working and experimenting with diverse materials and mediums to best describe a story, a mood, a moment, a state. I am a multidisciplinary artist and arts educator from Tehran, currently in Toronto. My journey began with a BA in painting and Visual Communication in Iran. Paintings on paper, mosaic installations, and light sculptures serve as the primary mediums for exploring and expressing my themes these days while drawing inspiration from Tahmasbi miniature paintings as well as geometry and poetry in ancient Iranian art.
