Hailed for her “wonderfully rich, warm tone,” mezzo-soprano Alex Hetherington is quickly establishing herself as a rising talent. She recently completed her tenure with the Canadian Opera Company’s (COC) Ensemble Studio and, in the 2024-25 season, appeared as Siebel in Faust at the COC before making her Vancouver Opera debut as the Stewardess in Flight. In concert, she performed as the alto soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with both Ottawa Chamberfest and the Mandle Philharmonic, made her debut with Chorus Niagara in Handel’s Messiah, and appeared with the Amadeus Choir for Duruflé’s Requiem.

In the 2025-26 season, Alex is set to make her role debut as Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette at the COC and return for their spring productions of Erwartung and Werther. She will also debut as Dorabella in Così fan tutte with Vancouver Opera, return to the stage at Ottawa’s National Arts Centre for concerts, and make anticipated company debuts with Boston Baroque and Les Violons du Roy.
