Afro Colombian turbans and braiding workshop with Keila Regina Miranda from Kombilesa Mí:
This is a participatory experience where each person will learn three different ways to wear a turban while sharing their own stories and reflections on hair, personal style, and Afro identity. Guided by Keila Regina Miranda (KR), an expert in Afro identity and traditional turbans, participants will explore the history and cultural significance of turbans, the meaning of braids, and the vital role of hairstyles within Black communities in Colombia. The workshop offers a space to honor the rich traditions of Benkos Biohó's Palenque, uncovering the origins, techniques, and symbolism behind each hairstyle.
