The Role: Development Intern 

The Development Intern will support the Development Team in identifying, cultivating and stewarding the Annual Giving and Corporate Partners Portfolios. The intern will play a key role in supporting the team to maintain clean and updated CRM database, researching donors and partners prospects, creating briefings and presentations for meetings and events management related tasks. 

The intern will also support with the day-to-day implementation of communications strategies, fundraising campaigns and stewardship tactics. 

 

Start date: April 28th, 2025 

End date: July 25th, 2025 

Salary: $50,000/yr (pro-rated) 

 

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Provide essential administrative assistance including database management, document organization, report generation, and accurate list maintenance. 
  • Assist with stakeholder communications including in-kind sponsorship outreach, drafting letters, emails, newsletters, e-solicitations etc. 
  • Provide hospitality support through concierge ticketing coordination, special event check in leading up to and during the festival. 
  • Coordinate onsite volunteers for fundraising initiatives during the festival under the guidance of the Development Manager 
  • Support post-festival research, data collection and impact reporting processes. 
  • Conduct research on innovative and creative strategies to support development objectives, exploring new opportunities for growth and engagement. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Working Conditions 

  • Mainly sedentary prior and after festival. Active periods of standing and walking throughout shifts during the festival and special events. 
  • Weekend and evening work will be required leading up and during the festival 
  • In all matters relating to donors, corporate partners and other festival business, ensuring that information is kept confidential and handled in an ethical manner 

 

The Candidate:  

We understand that not everyone has had the opportunity to cultivate all the skills, education and experience required to fulfill the responsibilities of this role. However, we encourage candidates who see themselves as having a solid base skill set for the position and interested in learning the rest to apply. 

 

Education/Eligibility 

  • Working towards a post-secondary education in fundraising, arts management, sales or equivalent. 
  • Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. 
  • Enrolled in a program at a Canadian accredited post-secondary institution during the work placement period and returning to studies after the term. 
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

  •  Highly organized with excellent attention to detail 
  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  •  Able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, hybrid working environment 
  •  Reliable, efficient, and independent 
  • Understanding of donor/corporate acquisition and retention strategies 
  • Sales or customer service experience at any level 
  • A passion for the arts and culture
