"The Phillip Glass Ensemble music is still a bastion of attention and listening, a challenge for both the musicians and the audience, which they more than met." - más Jazz
The Show
Handpicked musicians. Iconic scores. A night to remember.
Handpicked by the groundbreaking minimalist composer, Philip Glass, The PGE (founded in 1968) carries forward the technical rigor and visionary approach that redefined contemporary music. Performing The Early Works, a programme of Glass’ most celebrated pieces from 1974–1984, the ensemble brings to life music composed specifically for — and still performed exclusively by — the Philip Glass Ensemble. Highlights include Glassworks, Dance 1 (Einstein on the Beach), Grid (Koyaanisqatsi), and Funeral (Akhnaten).
Expect hypnotic complexity, haunting minimalism, and exhilarating variation — a one-night-only immersion into the sound world of one of modern music’s most influential composers at Koerner Hall.
