The Show
A city singing together.
The Toronto Symphony Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at Roy Thomson Hall alongside the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir—while thousands gather in Sankofa Square to experience it together.
This performance will be live-streamed onto the square’s towering screens, transforming the heart of downtown into an open-air concert hall.
By the final movement, choristers from across the city will gather at Sankofa Square to sing the finale of Ode to Joy in German, conducted by Jean-Sébastien Vallée.
Part of Luminato @ Sankofa Square, this will be a rare chance to witness—and be part of—a city-wide celebration of music and togetherness.
To join Ode To Joy on June 12 at Sankofa Square, please register. We encourage all participants to review the learning materials in advance.
