The Role: Associate Director Philanthropy


Luminato Festival is seeking a dynamic fundraiser to join our development team. This position works closely with the Vice-President Development to co-lead the individual giving portfolio and build meaningful funder relationships in support of our mission. This role is ideal for someone building their fundraising career, looking to move from being an individual contributor in major gifts and annual giving, into being a participant in strategy and managing a direct report. Luminato’s development team is a great place for a motivated fundraiser to make a difference.

Start date: May, 2026

Salary:  $80,000 - $90,000


Roles and Responsibilities:    

  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects at various stages of engagement 
  • Work closely with volunteers and board members on engagement and solicitation strategies 
  • Oversee and execute cultivation and stewardship events for donors 
  • Manage a direct report responsible for entry level giving and development operations 
  • Contribute to department strategy and budgeting 
  • Evaluate and qualify prospective donors for deeper involvement 
  • Support donors to ensure delivery of an exceptional Festival experience 
  • Develop compelling and clear proposals and communications 

 

The Candidate:  

We understand that not everyone has had the opportunity to cultivate all the skills and experience required to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.  We encourage candidates to apply who see themselves as having a solid base skill set for the position and interested in learning the rest. 


What You Must Have:


  • 3-5 years experience in major gift fundraising 
  • Post-secondary degree 
  • Ability to nurture and develop long-term relationships in service of Luminato’s mission 
  • Initiative, responsibility, and independence 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability and confidence to act as an ambassador for Luminato. 
  • Professional and conscientious, with integrity and care for confidential information 

 

It Would Be Nice If You Had:   

  • Proficiency with ticketing-based CRMs and fundraising platforms 
  • Demonstrated passion for the arts and civic impact 
  • Experience with Mcrosoft356 suite 
  • Robust understanding of local/national philanthropic environment
