CALL FOR SINGERS AND CHOIRS

On June 12 at 7:30 PM, Luminato Festival will live-stream the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Mendelssohn Choir (TMC), and esteemed international soloists performing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 from Roy Thomson Hall to Sankofa Square.

Sankofa Square will be filled with hundreds of voices joining together to sing along to the iconic fourth movement, featuring the “Ode to Joy” chorus.

Singers, choirs, and members of the public will be conducted by Jean-Sébastien Vallée on-site at Sankofa Square, creating a powerful shared choral experience in the heart of the city.

Participants are expected to rehearse on their own using the materials provided [ODE TO JOY LEARNING RESOURCES]. There will be one optional group rehearsal on Saturday, June 6 (venue TBC). Otherwise, participants will come together at Sankofa Square on June 12 to rehearse briefly and perform as part of this extraordinary event.

To participate in Ode To Joy on June 12 at Sankofa Square, please register below.
